We are pleased to present this fully restored English George III chiffonier from the second half of the 18th century.
Dimensions:
Width 104 cm.
Height 92 cm.
Depth 50 cm.
In these decades, England is at a crucial point in its history and is preparing to become the great world power that will find its culmination in the Victorian period. The Georgian era is an era of artistic growth, social changes, reforms and innovations, even if, compared to the Victorian age, the changes are apparently much less profound.
The Georgian era is rich in cultural ferments: we are at the peak of the popularity of the Enlightenment, but in particular England is experiencing a golden age in all the arts, including architecture.
We have a clear proof of this with this rare chiffonier: it has a walnut feather veneer on the front, on the side it has walnut briar and finally on the top we find solid walnut, with locks and two keys in perfect working order.
Two drawers at the top and three larger ones at the bottom, to make it shine as you can see in the photos we have entrusted to our trusted restorer, it looks like a piece of furniture of excellent cabinetry, with personality and originality.
